ABOUT US

Barbecue Presbyterian Church is a community of people seeking together to be the best disciples of Jesus Christ that we can be. Founded in 1758, the church celebrates its meaningful heritage even as we seek fresh opportunities
to embody love for God and our neighbors.  At Barbecue, unconditional love abounds as we worship, learn, reach out to the community and enjoy fellowship together.  If you are looking for a place to belong and grow in your faith, we hope you’ll join us soon!

PASTOR
CHOIR DIRECTOR

Exciting things planned for our new Kid's Club!

We currently have an interim pastor while our Pastor Nominating Committee searches for a permanent pastor for our church.

Interim pastor, Bucky Holmes

CRE Bucky Holmes is our new Commissioned Ruling Elder, Stated Supply Clerk. Bucky Holmes was born and raised in Sanford as a member of First Presbyterian Church. After college he moved to Washington DC where he lived for almost thirty years. In DC he was a member of Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church where he chaired their personnel committee and eventually served as their clerk of session. He returned to Sanford in 2016 and rejoined First Presbyterian where he served as the chair of its designated pastor nominating committee. Bucky is currently a Commissioned Ruling Elder and serves as co-moderator of the West Community Commission on Ministry for Coastal Carolina Presbytery and also serves on the board of directors for Camp Monroe. Outside of church he is an officer in the Sanford Kiwanis Club and chair of the board of directors for United Way of Lee County.

Choir Director and Pianist - Jeanne Anderson

I grew up in the Olivia Presbyterian Church.  During those years it was yoked with Barbecue.  The youth groups met together so I know many of you or your families.  I graduated with undergraduate and masters music education degrees from UNC-G.  I have taught music in the counties of Davie, Rowan/Salisbury, Harnett and Lee.

It is a blessing to be here - not only as a choir director/musician - also as a part of this community of believers.  I will work diligently with the choir.  I will work to build a handbell choir.  I will seek to provide opportunities for the youth to participate and lead in worship.

It is my hope that Barbecue Presbyterian Church is the church God wants us to be.  Let's get excited and do it together as we keep inviting former attendees and members back and share our church with "new" people.
